Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fast Start Leads Spirit into Championship Game

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Scoring two goals in the first six minutes, the OUAZ women's soccer team punched its ticket to the NCCAA Women's Soccer National Championship championship game with a 3-0 shutout Central Christian on Friday evening.

Saipress Jones gave OUAZ (14-4-3) the lead 103 seconds into the game when she finished a breakaway set up by a through ball from Haley Howard. Then, in the sixth minute, Jones assisted on a goal from Cassidi Calzaretta to put the Spirit in front 2-0.

That was the advantage until the 76th minute when OUAZ capped the day with a goal from Paige Murray-Hernandez.

The game ended with the Spirit holding a 24-11 edge in shots with 12 of those attempts on goal. Central Christian (14-8-1) managed just four shots on goal.

Jones was credited with five total shots and a pair of them on goal. Murray-Hernandez got three of her four shots on frame.

Chloe Gutierrez started in goal and got the win with two saves. Cassidy Samuelson played the second half with one save.

OUAZ – looking for its first title – will play in its second NCCAA National Championship title game when they face Grace on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (AZ).
