The OUAZ women's basketball team flew into Rocklin, Calif. less than 12 hours before its matchup with William Jessup on Friday, and the jet lag may have shown its effect on the Spirit at Warrior Arena. OUAZ shot 26.2% from the floor during its 78-56 loss in the first game outside of Arizona this season.
Natasa Radovic was the only Spirit player to find her shooting touch, as she was 8-12 from the field and finished with 25 points. She also used her good shooting night to get to the line, going a perfect 9-9 on free throws.
Radovic accounted for half of the team's made field goals, as the rest of her teammates converted eight total. The second quarter was the worst of them all in terms of shooting, as OUAZ got outscored 21-8 and shot 1-8 from the floor, the only make courtesy of a
Bryn O'Rourke three-pointer.
O'Rourke finished as the team's second-leading scorer Friday, finishing with eight points. Miranda Zaragoza, who scored the game-winning layup with a second left for William Jessup in last season's matchup in Rocklin, led the way for the Warriors with 14 points. All but one player to check in for Jessup scored in the conference matchup.
With a full night's rest, the Spirit will get a chance to split with William Jessup on Saturday. Tip-off from Rocklin is scheduled for Noon Arizona Time.
