The Spirit have yet to play a game outside Arizona, but that all changes this week, as OUAZ travels to Northern California for a two game series with William Jessup. The games Friday and Saturday will determine what the Spirit will need to do in the final two weeks of the conference season.
The two-division system for the 2020-2021 season presented OUAZ an excellent opportunity to get to the national tournament, as all they have to do is win the division and get an automatic bid. A series sweep against The Master's last weekend put the Spirit behind, but a sweep of the Warriors would go a long way down the stretch.
OUAZ lost a heartbreaker at William Jessup last season, as Miranda Zaragoza converted a layup in the final second to cut momentum from the Spirit's great start to conference play. The Spirit also lost its matchup with the Warriors at home in the season finale.
Natasa Radovic showed her performances against The Master's were truly outliers, as she recorded the program's first triple-double on Tuesday. She recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists during her team's 100-55 victory over SAGU American Indian College.
Though only playing six games so far, Radovic finds herself in the top 25 of the NAIA in a few individual categories. She ranks 15
th in steals per game (3.3), 16
th in free throw percentage (88.9%), and 21
st in assists per game (5.17). Her current APG is up over two assists from last season's averages.
The freshmen have really shined in the short schedule to this point, highlighted on the offensive end by
Sedona Anderson. She ranks 9
th in the nation in three-point FG percentage, converting 51.4% of her shots from behind the arc. She also ranks 18
th in field goal percentage, shooting 57.1% from the floor overall.
As a team, OUAZ's name is scattered around the top 15 of the nation in many categories. The highlights are ranking second in blocks per game (7.17), fourth in offensive rebounds per game (19.3) and fourth in assists per game (20.0).
