Top-Ranked Grand View Sweeps Spirit in Tournament Opener

DES MOINES, Iowa – In the opening match of the Molten Invitational, the 11th-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team was swept in three sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-19) by No. 1 Grand View – the tournament host – on Thursday night at the Johnson Wellness Center.
 
OUAZ (2-2) couldn't match the offensive effort put forth by Grand View (3-0) as the home team piled up a 40-28 advantage in kills. The Spirit only got to double-digit kills during a set in the third when they hit .391. On the other side, the Vikings had at least 11 kills in each set – including 16 in the second – and they hit .464 and .400 in sets two and three respectively.
 
Blake Music and Emery Outin led the Spirit with six kills apiece. Jordan Moses and Quaid King added five each. Music hit .556 while adding a pair of digs and one block. Andrew de'Leon finished with 19 assists.
 
Felix Chapman led Grand View with 21 kills on .576 hitting.
 
OUAZ looks to bounce back on Friday morning when they face No. 8 Jamestown at 10:30 a.m. (AZ) in the second of their four matches in Iowa.
