Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Spirit Spread the Wealth in Season's First Win

In its first game of the season, the Spirit never led and trailed by as many as 15 in the second quarter. OUAZ flipped the script in its home opener on Friday night, jumping out to a large first half lead against SAGU American-Indian College, and never giving it up.

Natasa Radovic led the way once again, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as the Spirit picked up an 88-71 win over the Warriors. Freshman Sedona Anderson also added 17 points, but doing it efficiently by shooting 60% from the field (6-10) and 50% from three (3-6) in 22 minutes.

Two other Spirit players scored in double figures, as newcomers Marlee Johnson and Bryn O'Rourke each netted 11. The scoring wealth was spread around, with 11 of the 12 players to check in for OUAZ recording at least three points.

The Spirit jumped out to a 28-9 lead after the first quarter behind 11-21 shooting in the frame. While the shooting percentages drastically fell off, especially in the second half, OUAZ still was able to maintain a double-digit lead throughout most of the contest.

Christin Bahe not only led the Warriors, but also was the game's scoring leader with 22 points. More than half of her total came from the free throw line, as she knocked down 12 of 13 from the stripe. Jamika Nelson recorded a double-double, putting in 16 points and snagging 10 rebounds.

The two-game weekend series between the two squads comes to a close tomorrow at 7pm. Just like Friday, no outside spectators will be allowed inside of Faith Arena.
