ATHERTON, Calif. – The OUAZ men's volleyball team wasn't able to give No. 5 Menlo its first loss of the season as they were swept in Golden State Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Menlo (11-0, 3-0 GSAC) used the 25-22, 25-17, 25-21 victory to maintain its advantage as the NAIA's undefeated team with the most wins this season.
OUAZ (7-3, 3-2) was close with the Oaks for most of the night, totaling 37 kills to the 40 from the home side. A key different was Menlo hitting .341 against the .188 of the Spirit. That was in part to their 8-5 edge in total blocks.
Blake Music,
Quentin Campbell, and
Quaid King all totaled nine kills for the Spirit. Music got there by hitting .333 while adding one block.
James Yahner hit .412 with eight kills, three digs, and two blocks.
Joaquin Santa Cruz would pace the Spirit with nine digs and
Colin Donisthorpe had a team-best four blocks.
Edin Ibrahimovic led Menlo with 16 kills.
OUAZ is back at Faith Arena on Friday, February 14 at 6 p.m. when the host Arizona Christian.
