SURPRISE, Ariz. – It took a set longer than they wanted, but the OUAZ men's volleyball team completed a season sweep of their crosstown rivals, Arizona Christian, with a four-set win on Friday night at Faith Arena.
OUAZ (8-3, 4-2 GSAC) earned the 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 25-14 victory for their fifth win in as many matches against Arizona Christian (0-7, 0-4) all-time.
The Spirit led most of the statistical categories, including a 44-33 advantage in kills. They hit .232 overall while holding the visitors to .069. OUAZ totaled nine service aces and 36 digs to counter the Firestorm's 9-5 advantage in blocks.
Quaid King led all players in the match with 17 kills on .281 hitting.
James Yahner added eight kills and
Conner Duyck had seven kills.
Colin Donisthorpe hit .857 with six kills.
Duyck had a team-best three aces.
Joaquin Santa Cruz led the team with 13 digs.
OUAZ will next head across town to face Grand Canyon University on Saturday at 4 p.m. in an exhibition match for the Spirit.
