THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The OUAZ men's volleyball team began their road trip to California by sweeping Cal Lutheran on Thursday night.
OUAZ (9-3) made quick work of their NCAA DIII opponents in securing a 25-13, 25-13, 25-15 victory. The Spirit posted 46 kills in the win and set a new school record with their .481 hitting percentage. They hit .467 or higher in each of the three sets and closed the win by hitting .500 in the third set.
Quaid King finished with a match-high 14 kills on .520 hitting.
James Yahner added nine kills and hit .538 while
Colin Donisthorpe and
Braiden Franco had six kills apiece.
OUAZ held Cal Lutheran to just 23 kills and .049 hitting in the match. The Spirit had a 6-1 edge in blocks to go with 35 digs and two service aces.
Ian Fields ran the offense with 35 assists and
Joaquin Santa Cruz recorded 10 digs. Donisthorpe had a match-high four blocks.
The Spirit will now head to Santa Clarita, California, where they will face The Master's on Friday at 7 p.m. (AZ) in a Golden State Athletic Conference match.
