For the second time in 2019, OUAZ women's volleyball took the opening set from a ranked conference opponent on Saturday. The Spirit won the first set against (23) Westmont and lost 3-1, and the Spirit found the same
results against (#21) Vanguard.
The Spirit could not continue the groove they found after winning the first set 25-21, and were defeated in the next three sets 25-18, 25-20, 25-18. The loss drops OUAZ to 2-7, and 1-5 in GSAC play.
Katie Defer led the way offensively for the Spirit, hitting .206 and finishing with 13 kills.
Kanoe Vinoya was the game leader in assists with 36. Defensively,
Leni Bartley led both teams with 24 digs.
The next time the Spirit take the court will be next Friday, September 27, when they take on William Jessup in Rocklin, Calif. First serve is scheduled for 5:00pm.
