SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The OUAZ women's volleyball started slow and couldn't recover as they lost at Life Pacific in four sets on Saturday afternoon to remain winless this season.
OUAZ (0-5, 0-4 GSAC) drop the match by scores of 9-25, 16-25, 26-24, 21-25 for their third four-set loss in the past four matches. Life Pacific (8-6, 2-2) snapped a two-match losing streak in the series with the victory.
The Spirit had little answer for the offense effort of the home team as the Warriors totaled a 56-40 edge in kills while hitting .273 compared to the .103 of OUAZ. The Spirit had just 14 kills through the first two sets while LPU had at least 13 kills in each of the four sets.
Katie Defer led OUAZ with 10 kills for her first double-digit kill effort of the season. She also added a team-high 15 digs and two service aces.
Austin Edwards and
Avie Butsko had eight kills apiece.
OUAZ recorded 72 digs and five blocks as a team while also picking up seven aces.
Leni Bartley added 14 digs and
Kanoe Vinoya had 32 assists, 12 digs, and one ace.
The Spirit will look to find their first win of the season when they host four matches at home next week. That starts on Tuesday against SAGU American Indian College at 7 p.m. at Willow Canyon High School.
