SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision against Southwest Minnesota State – a NCAA Division II team – on Saturday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
OUAZ (1-10) lost the one doubles point available by losing two of the three matches. They got a 6-0 win in the NO. 1 doubles match from
Julia Ortiz and
Hana Papaco.
Ortiz and Papaco would also score the Spirit's two wins in singles action. Ortiz win the No. 1 singles 6-1, 7-5 while Papaco took the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-3.
Southwest Minnesota State (10-8) won the other four singles matches with three sweeps. Only
Jocelyn Torres in the No. 5 match was able to extend to a third set before falling 1-6, 7-6, 2-6.
OUAZ will face another NCCAA DII foe when they return to action on Friday at 10 a.m. against Dixie State at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
