SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team dropped a dual against Detroit Mercy – a NCAA Division I opponent – by a count of 7-0 on Tuesday morning at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
The fourth straight loss for the Spirit has them at 1-8 on the season.
Detroit Mercy (7-3) scored the doubles point by winning all three of the matches. Playing their first match together,
Hana Papaco and
Katie Fyall fell in the No. 2 match, 7-5.
Michelle Fournier dropped her single No. 3 match 6-7, 2-6 in the most competitive match of the singles action. Papaco fell in the No. 2 match 3-6, 2-6.
In her singles debut, Fyall was defeated 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 6 match.
OUAZ will now get set for a Golden State Athletic Conference dual against crosstown rival Arizona Christian on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
