FULERTON, Calif. – The OUAZ women's tennis team secured another Golden State Athletic Conference victory on Friday with a 5-4 win at Hope International. The win gives the Spirit three straight victories for the first time in program history.
OUAZ (4-11, 3-5 GSAC) got off to a fast start by winning all three points in doubles action. After securing the first point by default,
Julia Ortiz and
Hana Papaco but the Spirit in front 2-0 by winning their dual 8-2.
Michelle Fournier and
Katie Fyall completed the doubles weep by winning their dual 8-1.
Ortiz earned an early win in singles action when her opponent retired to give OUAZ a 4-0 lead. Hope International (5-11, 3-5) would take the next three points to close the gap to 4-3. Fournier would clinch the win in the No. 3 singles dual with her 6-2, 6-3 victory.
OUAZ is back in action on Saturday when they face No. 16 San Diego Christian in another GSAC dual.
