SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team won consecutive duals for the first time this season with a 7-2 win over Southwest on Tuesday afternoon at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
Playing at home for the final times this season, OUAZ (3-11) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches.
Julia Ortiz and
Hana Papaco earned an 8-1 win while
Michelle Fournier and
Bianca Amaya earned the second point with an 8-4 victory. OUAZ took the final point in a walkover.
The Spirit secured the victory once singles play began as Southwest (2-7) only fielded four players for singles action. The final two points for the Spirit came from Ortiz in the No. 1 match 6-3, retired and Amaya in the No. 3 match, 6-1, 6-1.
OUAZ has six duals remaining in the schedule, including three on the road this week. That begins on Thursday at Biola in La Mirada, Calif.
