SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's tennis team got back on track and completed a season sweep of William Jessup with a 9-0 win in Golden State Athletic Conference play at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
Having dropped their previous seven duals, OUAZ (2-11, 2-5 GSAC) started fast on Saturday by earing all three points in doubles play.
Julia Ortiz and
Hana Papaco won their match 8-0 to start the day.
Michelle Fournier and
Katie Fyall followed with an 8-1 win. The Spirit completed the doubles sweep when
Bianca Amaya and
Jocelyn Torres won their match 8-3.
After Torres won her singles match by default, Fyall clinched the win by winning the No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-1. Amaya followed that with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the No. 4 match for a 6-0 lead.
Ortiz took the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-2 while Papaco won the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-2. Fournier completed the sweep in the No. 3 match with her 6-1, 6-4 victory.
OUAZ now gets set to host Southwest on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in their final home dual of the season.
