SURPRISE, ARIZ. – For the second time in three days, the OUAZ women's basketball team got a chance to take down a top five team. While the Spirit competed for majority of the first half, another bad quarter took them out of the game.
(3) The Master's outscored OUAZ 26-9 in the third quarter to push its lead to 30, and the Spirit could not dig out of that hole, as the Mustangs took home an 81-59 on Saturday afternoon. The Master's was led by Stephanie
Soares, who scored 20 points to go along with nine rebounds.
The Spirit had many contributions on the offensive end, as eight different players found their way into the points column.
Vanessa Barriga led the team in scoring with 12, and
Natasa Radovic added 10. Radovic also finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
OUAZ was aggressive getting to the basket, and was able to generate 25 free throws. They were able to add 19 points from the line, and
Logan Koski went 5-6 on her free ones.
The Spirit will not have to wait long to try and get back in the win column, as they will host SAGU American Indian College on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Tipoff for the matchup against the Warriors is scheduled for 5:00pm.
