OUAZ FOOTBALL GAME 9 NOTES
• The 12th-ranked OUAZ football team plays its final home game of the regular season on Saturday, November 2, when they host Lyon College.
• Kickoff on Senior Night is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Spirit Field on the OUAZ campus in Surprise, Arizona.
• OUAZ enters the game at 8-0 overall and with a 4-0 record at home. Lyon brings a 5-2 record into the game with the Scots posting a 2-1 mark in road games.
• The Spirit lead the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 6-0 record in conference games and they will win the conference title with a win on Saturday. Lyon is 4-1 in SAC play and could force a share of the league crown with a win.
• OUAZ leads the all-time series against Lyon 1-0 after securing a 51-11 win over the Scots last season at Spirit Field.Â

• With their 6-0 record in SAC play, OUAZ needs one win to clinch at least a share of the conference championship.Â
• The Spirit are 11-3 all-time in SAC games and they have won 10 straight conference games dating back to last season.
GAME 9 HISTORY
• OUAZ is 1-0 all-time in the team's ninth game of the season on the effort of a 75-14 win over Wayland Baptist in the ninth game last season.
• The Spirit enter the game 8-0 for the first time in program history after sitting at 6-2 at this point last season.
• This is the second straight season they have played the ninth game of the year at home and the fist time they will play Lyon in the ninth game,
LOOKING BACK
• After being held scoreless in the first quarter, OUAZ went on to claim a 47-7 win at Arizona Christian last Saturday.
• The Spirit gained 543 yards of total offense and scored the game's first 27 points. They held ACU to 242 total yards and just 133 yards passing.

Kristopher Ewens ran for a school-record 195 yards and one touchdown.
Austin McCullough had 357 yards passing and four touchdowns.
NATIONAL POLL
• Moving to 8-0 helped the Spirit jump three positions to No. 12 in this week's AFCA/NAIA Coaches' Poll.
• They received 215 points from the voters to make their largest move up the poll since entering the top 25 in the season's first regular season poll.
• Of the teams in this week's poll, only Keiser (Fla.) has gained more positions (24) in the poll since the preseason release than the Spirit (19).
CHECKING THE COMPUTERS
• This week's release of the Massey Ratings have the Spirit moving up two positions from last week to No. 21.
• OUAZ dropped three positions to No. 12 in this week's CompughterRatings.com release.
• The Peter Wolfe ratings released this week saw the Spirit come in at No. 3.
• OUAZ also maintained their No. 2 rating in this week's NCCAA ratings. The NCCAA uses the Massey Ratings system to determine in ratings.
MORE WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS
• Coming off his 11-point outing against Arizona Christian,
John Williams was named the SAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
• His third weekly award from the conference this season came following a 5 of 5 PAT performance and hitting both of his field goal attempts.
• OUAZ has received 11 of the 27 total SAC player of the week awards given this season with no other school earning more than three.Â
• A spirit player has also received a weekly award form the SAC following seven of the team's eight games played this season.

Christian Viville was named the NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week following the win at ACU.
• He earned his second NCCAA award of the season on the strength of his nine tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and 1.5 sacks.
• OUAZ has now received seven of the 16 total player of the week awards given by the NCCAA this year.
OFFENSIVE POWER
• OUAZ currently ranks third in the NAIA in scoring average at 50.6 points per game and with 405 total points scored.
• The Spirit have scored at least 40 points in six of their eight games this season and they have reached 70-plus points twice.
• They join Morningside (62.1) and Kansas Wesleyan (51.6) as the only three teams in the NAIA to currently average more than 50 points per game.
• OUAZ has scored 161 points in the second quarter of games this season. In comparison, they have only allowed the opposition to score 139 total points.
• OUAZ also ranks third in the country by averaging 507.8 yards per game. The Spirit have gained 500-plus yards in a game five times this season and at least 420 yards in every game they have played.
• The Spirit place fourth in the nation this week by passing for 333.4 yards per game. Their 2,667 total passing yards is third-most in the NAIA.
• The team's 30 passing touchdowns is tied for second in the NAIA behind only the 32 by Kansas Wesleyan.
• OUAZ currently sits fourth in the NAIA by averaging 26.3 first downs per game and they rank second by converting 52.1 percent on third down.
• With a plus-11 turnover margin, the Spirit are tied for the fifth-best ratio in the NAIA and they are seventh with a plus-1.40 turnover margin per game.
DON'T OVERLOOK THE DEFENSE
• OUAZ opponents are scoring just 17.4 points per game this season having allowed more than 21 points just twice while limiting four opponents to only seven points.
• The Spirit currently leads the SAC in scoring defense and they are 20th in the NAIA.
• The opposition is throwing for 174.9 yards per game with five teams being held under 200 passing yards.
• The Spirit are 28th nationally in passing defense and fifth in the NAIA with a 92.2 opponent passer rating.
• OUAZ ranks third in the NAIA with 28 total sacks and eighth in getting 3.5 sacks per game.Â
• For the season, OUAZ has 26 takeaways to lead the NAIA. They have recovered14 fumbles while getting 12 interceptions.
ABOUT LYON
• Lyon comes to Surprise with a 5-2 overall record and winners of two straight overall. The Scots are tied for second in the Sooner with a 4-1 mark in conference play.
• Lyon is 2-1 on the road this season, but have have okayed just ine road game in the past five weeks.
• In his second season at Lyon, Casey Creehan has recorded a 9-9 overall record.
• The Scots are 26th in the NAIA by passing for 225.3 yards per game and they rank 31st in scoring at 29.4 points per game.
• Isaiah Bradford averages 210.7 passing yards per game while Randy Satterfield accounts for 152.6 all-purpose yards per contest.
