OUAZ women's volleyball spent four days in Southern California this week, and play four games in that stretch. The final one was on Saturday against conference foe San Diego Christian, and the Spirit were able to pick its second victory over the Hawks in 2019.
OUAZ dropped the first set, but won three of the next four over San Diego Christian to pick up the 3-2 win (24-26, 25-23, 25-15, 13-25, 15-9). The win gave the Spirit a 2-2 record on the week.
The Spirit finished the match with 58 kills, with 20 of them coming from
Austin Edwards.
Sharron Wallace had 13 and
Katie Defer added 11.
Kanoe Vinoya had a career-high 48 assists, which also led the match.
Defensively, OUAZ had 79 digs, with match-leader
Leni Bartley recording 20.
Katie Defer had 13 digs to go along with her 11 kills, and Edwards recorded 11 digs. Service aces were aplenty as well in the match, as San Diego Christian led the category 11-8.
The Spirt hit the court again on Wednesday when they take on Park Gilbert on the road. First serve from Gilbert, Ariz. is set for 7:00pm. Â
