SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The OUAZ women's basketball team had few answers for 10th-ranked The Master's on Saturday afternoon as the home team cruised to a 76-49 win in a Golden State Athletic Conference game.
 
OUAZ (8-10, 2-9) led the game 16-14 after one quarter, but the GSAC leading Master's (18-4, 10-1) slowly took control of the game to secure a season sweep of the series. The Mustangs used an 18-2 run spanning the second and third quarters to help them turn a one-point deficit into a 15-point lead.
 
The Spirit made just 34.5 percent from the field and had just 22 rebounds while TMU shot 47.3 percent while grabbing 45 rebounds. They had 15 offensive rebounds for 13 second chance points. OUAZ forced the Mustangs into 19 turnovers and converted them into 19 points.
 
Alexis Smith led OUAZ in the game with 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists. She hit on 4 of 8 from beyond the arc to tally half of the team's eight makes from deep. Jorie Mayfield and Celeste Lira added 10 points apiece in the loss.
 
The Master's added a 36-14 advantage in points in the paint. The Mustangs got 19 points from Anika Neuman and 18 points and 19 rebounds from Stephanie Soares.
 
OUAZ now returns home where they will play four of their next five games. That stretch of games begins on Thursday at 5 p.m. against San Diego Christian.
