LA MIRADA, Calif. - The Ottawa University Arizona women's tennis team fell on Friday afternoon to Biola University by a final of 9-0 at the Biola Tennis Center in La Mirada, California.
With the loss, the Spirit fall to 1-5 overall. With the victory, Biola University improves to 3-14 overall.
Friday began with doubles play, and Biola claimed the first win of the day at #3 doubles by a final of 8-1. #1 Doubles was next off the court, with Biola claiming the 8-4 victory. The Eagles finished off the sweep with an 8-5 victory at #2 doubles.
Singles play would not get any easier for the Spirit, as they dropped five of the six matches in straight sets. In #2 singles,
Eliza Wood fell behind 6-0 after one set. She quickly rebounded and claimed a second set victory of 6-1. Wood then dropped the match in the third set, by a final of 6-1.
The Spirit close out their California trip on Saturday morning, with an 11am match at Hope International University in Fullerton.
