Spirit close out season Tuesday against Mesa Community College

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Ottawa University Arizona women's tennis team defeated the Hope International University Royals on Saturday afternoon by a final of 6-3 in Fullerton, California.

With the victory Saturday, the Spirit improve to 2-5 overall on the year. With the loss, Hope International University falls to 0-16 overall.

The Spirit dominated future GSAC conference foe; Hope International University on Saturday. OUAZ won #1 and #2 doubles by finals of 8-0, before claiming the #3 doubles point by default; due to the lack of players for Hope International.

OUAZ went into singles play up 3-0, and then quickly claimed points at #5 and #6 singles; once again due to the lack of players for Hope International University.

Julia Ortiz won #1 singles, due to the retirement of her opponent and with that win; the Spirit locked in a match victory leading 6-0.

OUAZ fell in #2, #3 and #4 singles in straight sets.

The Spirit close out their 2017-18 season on Tuesday afternoon, when they host Mesa Community College for an exhibition match beginning at 1:30pm at the Surprise Tennis Complex.
