@OUAZMVB Defeats Menlo in Four Sets

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Ottawa University men's volleyball team defeated the Menlo Oaks in four sets. Final scores were 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22.

With the win the Spirit move forward with a record of 9-8.

In this final meeting between the Menlo College Oaks and the OUAZ Spirit, the Spirit came out of the battle with the win.

In the first set of the match, the Spirit jumped ahead and stayed ahead for the game. Their offense dominated the Oaks. The second game showed more of a battle between both teams. The Oaks were able around to point 6 to jump ahead and stay ahead for the game to win it 25-19. The Spirit made moves to close the score to 2 points but were unable to overcome the Oaks.

Game three followed similarly to game one with the Spirit dominating early to hold the lead for the game and move the match into game four. The final game of the match was the battle-match. The Spirit took the early lead, but the Oaks were able to catch and hold the lead until point 19. OUAZ caught the Oaks and held them to 3 points while the Spirit finished the game 25-22.

The Oaks dominated with five serving aces, in what usually is the bread-and-butter for OUAZ. But the Spirit had three hitters in double-digit kills; Kory Peterson led with 17 kills, James Yahner finished with 15, and Tony Williams earned ten for the game.
