MESA, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona men's volleyball team fell to Benedictine University at Mesa Wednesday evening, three sets to one. The final scores were 18-25, 25-22, 17-25, 20-25.

With the loss the Spirit hold a record of 10-9.

This would be the final matchup between the Benedictine Redhawks and the OUAZ Spirit for the 2018 season. Game one started with both teams finding their rhythm. The Redhawks would jump ahead, and the Spirit would come from behind to match. At points 15-17 the Redhawks made their final move winning the first game 25-18.
 
OUAZ flipped the tables in game two, jumping out ahead of the Redhawks and staying ahead to win the game 25-22. The Spirit had two early blocks to give them the lead and used service errors from the Redhawks to finish the game and force it into four sets.
 
Game three followed similarly to the opening game. The Redhawks stayed ahead, and while the Spirit made moves to match their score, BenU ended game three 25-17. In the final game of the match, the Spirit worked hard to keep the early lead using a block from Seth Golleher, kills from Chris Nero and James Yahner and a couple of service errors from the Redhawks.
 
At point ten for the Spirit, the Redhawks made their move and took the lead. The Spirit fought and narrowed the score to a one-point lead at 19-20 before their offense finished the game and matched 25-20.
 
The Spirit play next in Adrian, MI for the Siena Heights Tournament. The Spirit face Judson University at 3:00 pm MST and Lawrence Tech at 5:00 pm MST Friday, March 16th (day one).
