The OUAZ women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday when they host crosstown rival Arizona Christian in a Golden State Athletic Conference contest. The game will tipoff at noon from Willow Canyon High School.

Fans attending the game are encouraged to park on the south side of the gymnasium and enter the building through the west doors. Admission is free to all OUAZ home basketball games this season.

OUAZ will broadcast the game live on the NAIA Network and through the Spirit Game Central portal. ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ enters its final conference game of 2018 at 4-3 overall and 0-2 in GSAC play. The Spirit are currently tied for eighth in the conference. They have dropped three straight games overall and have a 2-2 record in home games. Dating back to last season, OUAZ is 7-3 in the last 10 games played.

Heading into Saturday, OUAZ is scoring 69.3 points per game and making 38.1 percent from the field. They average 4.4 made 3-pointers per outing while connecting on 20.7 percent from deep. The team grabs 45.1 rebounds per game and distributes 11.7 assists.

On defense, OUAZ is giving up 63.7 points per game with opponents shooting 34.8 percent from the floor. The opposition is making 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 7.1 threes per contest. The Spirit force 21.9 turnovers per game while getting 11.0 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

Bailey Osmer currently leads the Spirit in scoring at 14.6 points per game to rank ninth in the SAC. She has scored in double figures six times and been the team's leading scorer in a game three times. Osmer also leads the club with 46 rebounds and is 10th in the conference at 6.6 rebounds per game.

Alexis Smith is second in the team and 14th in the GSAC by scoring 13.4 points per contest. Smith has five games in double figures, including a school record 31 against Benedictine Mesa on November 8. She has seven makes from beyond the arc while leading the team with 19 assists.

After missing the first two games while finishing her season with the OUAZ women's volleyball team,
Jorie Mayfield is scoring 11.6 points per game and shooting 45.0 percent from the field this season. She has scored in double figures in each of the past four games while grabbing 5.2 rebounds per game.

ABOUT ARIZONA CHRISTIAN
Arizona Christain will head across town at 6-4 overall this season and 1-1 in GSAC play. They knocked off then-No. 14 The Master's, 71-63, on Saturday to split their opening weekend of conference play. That wins snapped a four-game losing streak by the Firebirds. Courtney Christmas leads the GSAC – and ranks third in the NAIA – in scoring at 22.5 points per game.

LOOKING AHEAD
After Saturday, OUAZ will have two games remaining in December. They will host Lincoln Christian on December 17 and then welcome Bethesda on December 29.
