SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The OUAZ women's basketball team extended its hot start to the season with an 81-33 win at Saint Katherine on Wednesday night.
OUAZ is now 3-0 on the season and they have won seven straight dating back to last season.
Leading 31-21 at the half, the Spirit outscored Saint Katherine (0-8) 50-12 in the second half to pull away for the largest win in school history. They shot 45.3 percent from the field and had seven 3-pointers. At the defensive end, OUAZ held the Firebirds to just nine made baskets and 15.0 percent shooting.
Jenna Rodriguez led three Spirit players in double figures with 14 points in 18 minutes off the bench. She converted 7 of 8 from the field and also grabbed five rebounds.
Bailey Osmer added 12 points and six rebounds with
Kelli Chapman hitting a pair of threes on her way to 10 points.
The Spirit had 26 assists with Osmer and
Elizabeth Garcia posting eight apiece.
Saint Katherine got 11 points from Monae' Hobson.
OUAZ will look for a fourth straight win on Thursday when they play at Westcliff at 2 p.m. (MST).
