OUAZ Makes First Road Trip of the Season

The OUAZ women's basketball team takes to the road for the first time this season as they open a four-game road stretch. The Spirit will look for a season sweep of Saint Katherine on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. (MST) in Encinitas, California. OUAZ will then face Westcliff on Thursday at 2 p.m.
 
OUAZ will close out this week's play with a trip to Orem, Utah, to face NCAA Division I foe Utah Valley in an exhibition game for the Spirit.
 
Live video and stats are not available for the first two games of the trip. The game at Utah Valley will be streamed live on the WAC Digital Network and feature live stats. Links for all live features are available at OUAZSpirit.com/live.

ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ has started the season 2-0 with home wins over Saint Katherine and Benedictine Mesa. The consecutive wins extend the Spirit's streak to six straight wins dating back to the end of last season. The Spirit will play on the road for the first time this week after going 5-7 in road games last season.
 
Through two games this season, OUAZ is averaging 86.5 points per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field. They are hitting 20.8 percent from beyond the arc in making 5.0 3-pointers per game. The Spirit grab 50.5 rebounds per game and average 15.5 assists per game.
 
OUAZ opponents are scoring 67.5 points per game and shooting 37.9 percent. The Spirit hold the opposition to 20.4 percent from beyond the arc while forcing 24.5 turnovers per game in getting 13.5 steals per contest.
 
Coming off a school record 31 points against Benedictine Mesa, Alexis Smith leads the Spirit in scoring at 23.5 points per game so far this season. Smith shoots 44.4 percent from the field and she has converted 20 of 24 – 83.3 percent – at the foul line. She also leads the team with eight assists and has six steals.
 
Bailey Osmer is scoring 17.0 points per game while leading the team at 9.0 rebounds per night. She scored in double figures both games the team has played and 17 times in her career. Osmer leads the Spirit with seven steals and has added seven assists.
 
Jenna Rodriguez and Mai'Zhrae Zeno are each averaging 8.0 points per game. Rodriguez has added nine rebounds and shoots 60 percent while Zeno shoots 77.8 percent with seven rebounds.
              
ABOUT SAINT KATHERINE
Saint Katherine has started the season 0-7 and the Firebirds have dropped 36 straight games dating back to last season. They score 46.4 points per game while allowing 81.7 to the opposition. Monae' Hobson has scored a team-high 79 points this season.
 
Wednesday will mark the third all-time meetings between the two teams with OUAZ wining the first two. The Spirit opened the year with a 91-61 win at home and won 95-54 last season at USK.
 
ABOUT WESTCLIFF
Westcliff is 0-5 to start the new season and will play their first home game on Thursday. The Warriors average 41.2 points per game and shoot 26.5 percent from the field. That are allowing 87.0 points per game.
 
OUAZ will play Westcliff for the first time on Thursday.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
After the exhibition game at Utah Valley on Saturday, the Spirit will be off until facing Benedictine Mesa on November 24 on the road. That game will tip at 2 p.m. and is the last road game of 2018 for OUAZ.
