SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team opened a stretch of six straight road matches by falling in three set at No. 17 Westmont College on Friday night in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
OUAZ (9-8, 4-6 GSAC) recorded only 32 kills in falling by scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-22. They allowed Westmont (15-4, 6-3) to notch 47 kills and hit .374 against the .109 of the Spirit.
Gianna Kioa and
Jorie Mayfield had nine kills apiece to pace OUAZ.
Austin Edwards added seven kills.
The Spirit ended the night with 43 digs after getting 20 from
Seleni Bartley for her third 20-plus dig match of the season.
Rachel Kater had 23 assists and
Sierra Dominguez had the team's lone service ace.
Westmont ended the match with 55 digs and a 4-1 edge in total blocks.
Hali Galloway led the Warriors with 14 kills.
OUAZ has a quick turnaround as they return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they visit No. 11 The Master's in another GSAC match.
