MESA, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team traveled across town and defeated Benedictine Mesa in three sets in a non-conference match at Heap Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
OUAZ (16-12) used the 25-18, 25-20, 25-16 sweep to record their sixth win in the past seven matches played. The win also allows the Spirit to split the season series with Benedictine (23-11) after falling to the Redhawks in August.
The Spirit finished the night with 34 kills and hitting .240. They allowed 33 kills from the home side but forced the Redhawks into 25 hitting errors for a .076 percentage. OUAZ totaled seven blocks and added 44 digs and four service aces.
Jorie Mayfield led the Spirit attack with eight kills while
Gianna Kioa added eight.
Asha Harris posted six kills and hit .545 in the win.
Rachel Kater had a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs to go with two aces. Kioa also had 10 digs.
Jessica Youngberg tallied five blocks.
Benedictine got nine kills from Violeti Faleumu.
OUAZ now gets sets for a trip to Arizona Christian on Friday at 7 p.m. in the final match of the regular season.
