Spirit and Royals Play to Scoreless Draw

FULLERTON, Calif. – The OUAZ women's soccer team was held without a goal for the first time this season, but they were still able to manage a point in the Golden State Athletic Conference standings by playing Hope International to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon.

OUAZ (11-3-2, 3-1-2 GSAC) had scored in every game this season with multiple goals in 13 of the team's first 15 games. They were unable to breakthrough against Hope International (7-5-2, 2-2-2) with just seven total shots and four shots on goal.

HIU attempted 17 shots in the game and nine of them on goal. The home side also finished with a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Keana Barrow had two shot attempts and she was the only Spirit player with multiple shots. Sydnee Busby saw her run of scoring a point in every game this season come to an end on one shot on goal.

Emily Kriplean had a solid day in goal with eight saves – including two in the second overtime period – to earn her third shutout of the season.

With two games left in the GSAC season, OUAZ is currently in third place with 11 points. They return to action on Thursday at 5 p.m. when they host second-place Westmont College at Spirit Field.
