Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Unbeaten Streak Snapped by No. 4 Vanguard

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The OUAZ women's soccer team saw its nine-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 4-1 loss at No. 4 Vanguard on Thursday afternoon in a matchup between the top two teams in the Golden State Athletic Conference standings.
 
OUAZ (11-3-1, 3-1-1 GSAC) trailed 1-0 at halftime after a goal in the 25th minute from Marielisa Hallam of Vanguard (11-1, 5-0). The Spirit drew even less than two minutes into the second half when Sydnee Busby finished a shot on a feed from Maddie Myers to level the game at 1-1.
 
Vanguard's experience showed up from that point. The home side scored two goals in 125 seconds to open a 3-1 lead in the 60th minute. The Lions then added a final tally in the 84th minute for the final margin.
 
OUAZ attempted just eight shots with five on goal. They surrendered 31 shots with the Lions putting 14 on frame.  Busby led the Spirit with four shots while Myers had two shots.
 
Addison Riddle made eight saves in taking the loss in goal for OUAZ.
 
Despite the loss, OUAZ remains tied for second in the GSAC standings with 10 points. They are back in action on Saturday when they visit Hope International at noon.
