Women’s Volleyball Claims Road Win at Life Pacific

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team returned to the win column by defeating Life Pacific in four sets on Friday night in Golden State Athletic Conference action.
 
After dropping the first set, OUAZ (10-10, 5-7 GSAC) came back to win the next three sets to win the match 18-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-21. The Spirit used 55 kills and .235 hitting to snap their three-match losing streak.
 
The Spirit struggled in the first set loss with 12 hitting errors to finish the frame hitting zero. They responded with 12, 16, and 15 kills in the next three sets respectively, including a .417 hitting percentage in the second. OUAZ held Life Pacific (6-15, 1-10) to .183 hitting on 47 kills.
 
Three Spirit players recorded double figures in kills with Jorie Mayfield leading the group with 14. Her 11th double-digit kill match of the season came with .250 hitting and four digs.
 
Austin Edwards added 13 kills with Gianna Kioa posting a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs.
 
OUAZ had one of its better serving nights of the conference season with 11 service aces with four apiece from Kelsey Marchant and Sierra Dominguez. Jessica Youngberg led the team with four blocks and the Spirit finished the match with eight total blocks.
 
Seleni Bartley had 25 digs for her fifth straight double-digit dig night. Rachel Kater tallied 47 assists, six kills, and eight digs.
 
Life Pacific was led by 14 kills from Jordin Bishop on .419 hitting.
 
OUAZ sits in seventh-place in the GSAC standings as they prepare for Saturday's match at Hope International. The Royals are currently one-half game ahead of the Spirit in sixth-place.
