SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak with a 4-0 win over Menlo College on Thursday night in a Golden State Athletic Conference game at Spirit Field.
OUAZ (10-2-1, 2-0-1 GSAC) changed the feel of the game in the sixth minute after a cross by
Keana Barrow was shot into the net by
Breanna Brumet for an early 1-0 lead. The early goal allowed the Spirit to dictate the game the rest of the night.
That would pay dividends in the second half where the Spirit opened things up. In the 55th minute, Barrow slid a shot past the keeper after receiving a pass from Sydney Busby.
The lead reached 3-0 in the 67th minute when Busby – the GSAC's leading scorer – knocked one in for her 14th of the season.
Kalleigh Gibaldo added the final tally in the 75th minute on a feed from
Shania Maddux.
OUAZ ended the night with 12 shots and seven on goal. They only allowed Menlo (6-4, 1-3) to take five shots. Busby and
Mariah McDuffy led OUAZ with two shots each.
Addison Riddle earned the win and her second career shutout with a pair of saves.
Now tied for third in the GSAC with seven points, the Spirit will return to action on Saturday when they host William Jessup on Spirit Field at 10 a.m.
