SPIRIT DROP EXHIBITION AT UTAH VALLEY

OREM, Utah - The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell to the Utah Valley University Wolverines in an exhibition game on Monday afternoon by a final score of 69-51.

"We are proud of our team's effort and their execution against a tough NCAA Division 1 opponent," said OUAZ head women's basketball coach Milee Karre. "Our mistakes and turnovers cost us transitional points to Utah Valley and their trapping zone was something we did not anticipate. Overall, it was great a performance for our team to be within couple of points into the second half. We hope to build on this experience and use it to improve."

In the first half the Wolverines took an early lead, but the Spirit kept pace with them finishing the first quarter within striking distance. At halftime, the score was 38-30 in favor of Utah Valley.

In the second half, OUAZ continued to stay close with Utah Valley. At the end of the third quarter and into the fourth the Utah Valley University made their move to extend their lead and win the game 69-51.

Bailey Osmer (FR/Tucson, AZ) finished with 14 points, followed by Caronda Yazzie (JR/Chinle, AZ) with 10 points. Jorie Mayfield(JR/Tempe, AZ) led OUAZ with eight rebounds.

The Spirit will next be in action on Monday November, 13th, when they host Benedictine University at Mesa at Willow Canyon High School at 7:00pm.
