PHOENIX, Ariz. - The OUAZ women's basketball team lost to the Arizona Christian Firestorm at Fultz Memorial Gym. The final score was 89-78.
The OUAZ Spirit had an unsteady start to the game Tuesday evening at Fultz Memorial Gymnasium. The Arizona Christian Firestorm came out strong scoring 29 points in the first quarter and holding the Spirit to only seven points. But the Spirit were not to be left behind. In the second quarter, OUAZ outscored the Firestorm 23 to 18, narrowing the score at the half to 30-47.
The second half showed a different team in the OUAZ Spirit. The team came out aggressive, pressuring the Firestorm to turnover the ball multiple times. The Spirit kept at the Firestorm for the third quarter but were unable to make up the difference that the first quarter cost them. In the fourth, the Spirit made a strong push to close the gap to an 11 point lead for the Firestorm ending the fourth and the game at 89-78.
The Spirit beat the Firestorm from the 3-point line shooting 43% to ACU's 33%.
OUAZ play at Benedictine University at Mesa, Saturday, December 2ndat 6:00pm. This is the second meeting of these teams this season.
