Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

SPIRIT FALL TO THE MASTERS

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Ottawa University Arizona women's basketball team fell to The Master's University team in game two of the Jersey Mike's Classic; final score is 73-49.

"We faced a top competitor in The Masters University today. At the start of the first half, we were shell-shocked by their speed and length. In the second half, we played even on the scoreboard and our girls settled down and played better," said Head Coach Milee Karre.

He continued, "Overall, it was an eye-opening experience for our players on how much better we need to get and how to handle details of the game plan."

In the first half of the game, The Masters University Mustangs jumped to an early lead. They kept the speed of the game quick and were able to create a sizable lead over the Spirit. The second half gave the Spirit the chance to reset their game plan. The second half showed a different confidence in the OUAZ team as they went toe-to-toe with the Mustangs shooting close percentages for field goals and forcing the Masters to 10 turnovers for the half. The Spirit played much better, but not enough to close the lead. The Mustangs finished with a final score of 73-49.

For the game, the Spirit held a higher percentage of free-throw shots made but lost out to the Mustangs in field goals and 3-point shots. In almost every other aspect of the game, the OUAZ Spirit held similar numbers to the Mustangs.

OUAZ plays Arizona Christian University next on November 21st at 7:00 pm.To see the entire Women's Basketball Schedule, please click here.
