PRESCOTT, Ariz. - Ottawa University Arizona Women's Volleyball lost to Embry-Riddle (AZ) in three sets Friday evening. Final Scores were 25-12, 25-14, 25-17. With the loss the Spirit move on with the record 6-9.
Head Coach Kristin Steele commented on Embry-Riddle (AZ), "They are a solid team, perhaps the best we've seen all season. They served us tough and had several dominating hitters. We hung with them at times, but we're not able to keep up with their pace. It's still the little mistakes that we make at inopportune times that keep us from truly competing with teams like ERAU."
In game one of the match both teams fought for momentum tying the game at 10-10 when the Eagles made a 2-15 point run against the Spirit with service aces to win the game 25-12. Game two started with Embry Riddle (AZ), using their momentum from the previous match, jumping ahead with a 5-1 lead. The Spirit fought back to bring the score to 5-8, but too many attack errors gave the Eagles the win finishing the game 25-14. Game three the Spirit kept pace with the Eagles to start and then pulled away to gain the lead by seven points. The Eagles came back on an 11 point run to take the lead, win the game and win the match 25-17.
Amanda Wick (FR/Glendale, AZ) had a good blocking performance, assisting with four blocks for the match.
The Spirit play SAGU American Indian College next on Thursday, October 12th, at 7:00pm in Phoenix, AZ.
