FIRESTORM FUEL LATE COMEBACK OVER (#8) OUAZ

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The 8th ranked Ottawa University Arizona women's soccer team fell on Thursday evening to cross-town rivals Arizona Christian University, by a final of 3-1 at the CCV Surprise Soccer Field. It was just the second home match of the year for OUAZ.

With the loss, the 8th ranked Spirit fall to 7-6 overall on the season. With the victory, Arizona Christian improves to 6-7-1 overall.

The first half featured a lot of passing, with both ACU and OUAZ feeling one another out. There were just a few scoring chances in the first half, but after 45 minutes of play each team would head into the locker room tied at 0-0.

In the second half, the scoring output began. The Spirit would attack first, just two minutes into the second half. Rianna Poarch (JR/Gilbert, AZ) sent in a corner-kick, that Danica Milan (JR/Gilbert, AZ) and sent into the back of the net to give OUAZ the early 1-0 lead.

Momentum looked to be in the Spirit's favor, however Arizona Christian would respond quickly with a goal in the 51st minute; off the foot of Marissa Ortiz. The goal would be the first of three for Ortiz on the night. She finished off her hat-trick with goals in the 58th and 84th minutes.

Arizona Christian outshot OUAZ 19-6 in the match and attempted five corner kicks, to just two for OUAZ.
