Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

(#19) EAGLES DOWN (#8) SPIRIT 5-0

PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The 8th ranked Ottawa University Arizona women's soccer team were defeated on Tuesday evening in Prescott, Arizona, by a final of 5-0 by the Embry-Riddle (AZ) University Eagles. Currently Embry-Riddle is ranked 19th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

 

Tuesday's match was ruled an exhibition for Embry-Riddle, so their record remains intact at 9-3 overall. With the loss, 8th ranked OUAZ falls to 7-5 overall on the season.

 

It was a rough evening for the Spirit on Tuesday in Prescott. The ERAU Eagles came out strong against the Spirit, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Embry-Riddle first got on the board in the 19th minute when Krista Lee set-up Riley Martinson for the games' first goal. Lee then set up Jennifer Ruth in the 37th minute to give the Eagles the 2-0 lead headed into halftime.

 

In the second half, Krista Lee would add a goal and her third assist of the night, while the Eagles tacked on three total goals to claim the 5-0 victory over the Spirit. In the loss, OUAZ was outshot 34-5. Embry-Riddle attempted two corner kicks, while the Spirit had one.

 

Earlier in the day Tuesday, the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their Top-10 weekly rankings. Ottawa University Arizona remains in a tie for 8th in the Top-10 Poll with Colorado Christian University.

 

The 8th ranked Spirit come home this Thursday, for their first home match since September 10th. Both the men's and women's soccer teams will host Arizona Christian University this Thursday October 12th, with the women getting things started at 5:30pm. The men will follow at 7:30pm.
