Entering his third year at Ottawa University, Cody Murphy serves as the Head Assistant Coach, as well as the Head of Basketball Operations and Player Development. With a relentless commitment to excellence, he has played a pivotal role in building a winning culture—both on and off the court. While Assisting Head Coach Bob Henige Ottawa secured its first winning season, setting a new standard for success within the program.
Murphy’s coaching philosophy extends beyond basketball, emphasizing personal growth, discipline, and leadership. His approach ensures that young athletes develop the tools to succeed not just in competition, but in life beyond the gym. His ability to cultivate an ELITE mindset has helped shape players into high-character individuals prepared for success in any arena.
Before his time at Ottawa, Murphy established himself as a proven winner at multiple levels of the game. He contributed to a state championship at the high school level and has coached in national championship competition at the collegiate level. His playing experience at the Division I level provides him with firsthand knowledge of the demands and expectations of high-level competition, allowing him to mentor athletes with a unique perspective.
For over 11 years, Murphy has had the privilege of working alongside Bob Henige, where he has leveraged his experiences in both coaching and player development to foster an ELITE basketball environment. His passion for the game and dedication to his players have been instrumental in shaping a program that prioritizes both competitive success and personal growth.
