Surprise, Ariz. – OUAZ Women's Volleyball continued its strong run through conference play Thursday night, defeating Life Pacific 3-1 inside Faith Arena. With the win, the Spirit improved to 8-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in GSAC play while extending their winning streak to five matches.
After dropping the second set, OUAZ responded with dominant performances in the third and fourth frames to secure another important conference victory and remain among the leaders in the GSAC standings.
Set 1:Â
OUAZ came out aggressive from the opening serve, building an early advantage behind the play of Keira Adrian, Hannah Allman, Elisa Saunders, and Gloria Moye. The Spirit forced Life Pacific into several attacking errors and used a balanced offensive attack to create separation midway through the set.
A service ace from Tiana Fisher, combined with strong blocking from Moye and Saunders, fueled a late run that allowed OUAZ to pull away and claim the opening set.
Set 2:Â
Life Pacific responded in the second set and capitalized on several momentum swings to level the match.
The Spirit received strong contributions from Rylie Henige, who recorded multiple kills during a key stretch while reaching the milestone of 500 career kills in an OUAZ uniform. Jenna Sarff, Bella Reach, and Allman also added points offensively. Despite battling back late, OUAZ could not erase the deficit as the Warriors secured the set to even the match at 1-1.
Set 3:Â
The third set proved to be the turning point of the match.
Behind strong serving from McKenna Diederich and Allman, the Spirit raced to an early lead and never looked back. Moye and Delaney Wilson helped anchor the defense with key blocks, while Adrian, Saunders, and Diederich combined for several timely kills.
OUAZ controlled the set from start to finish, using a balanced attack and efficient defense to retake the match lead.
Set 4:Â
Looking to avoid a fifth set, the Spirit wasted little time establishing control in the fourth.
Adrian took over offensively, recording several key kills as OUAZ jumped ahead early. Contributions from Allison Pivonka, Fisher, Henige, Sarff, and Saunders helped the Spirit maintain the advantage throughout the frame.
Life Pacific made a late push, but OUAZ responded with strong net play and timely attacks to secure the set and close out the match in four.
