Surprise, Ariz.-- OUAZ Baseball put together a dominant showing on Wednesday night, rolling past Justice University 15-2 at home to improve to 28-13 on the season.
The Spirit wasted no time jumping out in front, plating three runs in the first inning. Camden Knutson got things started with an RBI single, followed by a Chaz Clemons sacrifice fly, and Joel Esparza capped the frame with an RBI double to give OUAZ an early 3-0 lead.
OUAZ continued to apply pressure in the second, adding three more runs. Knutson delivered again with a two-RBI double, and the Spirit capitalized on a Justice error to extend the lead to 6-1.
The game broke wide open in the third inning as OUAZ erupted for six runs. Esparza highlighted the inning with a two-run home run, while Ben Ullyott, Matthew Carter, and Liam Padden each drove in runs to push the advantage to 12-1.
The Spirit added their final three runs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of free passes and timely hitting, including a two-RBI single from Kasey Regala to cap the scoring at 15-2.
On the mound, Brandon Enders earned the win, while a collection of arms including Parker Cadacio, Diego Quinonez, Winston Roberts, Micah Del Rio, and Brayden Marcum combined to limit the Lions to just two runs on six hits.
OUAZ will look to carry this momentum forward as they return to action at home on Tuesday, April 7th at 6 p.m. on KC Royals Field 6.
