Bullhead City, Ariz.-- The Ottawa University Arizona women's golf team delivered a strong performance at the Spring Invite at Laughlin Ranch, finishing tied for first after 36 holes before ultimately placing second following a playoff with Embry-Riddle. The Spirit closed the tournament with a team score of 632 (+56), tying atop the leaderboard before the tiebreaker determined the final standings.
Chiara Israng paced OUAZ with a tie for second individually, carding a 156 (+12) over two rounds. Alayna Lekkerkerk followed closely with a fourth-place finish at 157 (+13), giving the Spirit two top-five individual performances. Macie Doherty and Jenney Kim Song each tied for 14th with matching totals of 162 (+18), while Anne Van Hemert finished tied for 20th at 166 (+22). Frida Medellin rounded out the lineup with a 175 (+31), placing 32nd.
The runner-up finish marks one of the team's strongest showings of the spring season as the Spirit continues to build momentum. OUAZ will return to competition March 16–17 at the Kyle Blaser Invite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, held at Gaillardia Country Club.
