Surprise, Ariz.-- OUAZ Men's Volleyball continued its strong start to the 2026 season on Friday night, sweeping No. 14-ranked Westcliff in straight sets inside Faith Arena. The Spirit earned the 3–0 victory behind a composed and efficient performance, improving to 5–1 on the young season.
OUAZ battled through a tightly contested opening set, edging the Warriors 25–23 to take early momentum. The Spirit carried that energy into the second set, maintaining offensive pressure and strong defensive coverage to secure a 25–22 win. With control firmly established, OUAZ closed the match in dominant fashion, pulling away in the third set to clinch the sweep with a 25–16 victory.
Horatio Maumasi delivered a standout performance for the Spirit, leading the team with nine kills on 11 attempts while committing no errors, finishing with an impressive .818 hitting percentage. Caeden Salmen also played a key role offensively, recording 10 kills and contributing on both ends of the court. Madduxx Goron orchestrated the Spirit offense efficiently, tallying 28 assists while guiding OUAZ to a .375 team hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Spirit were active at the net and in the back row, finishing with eight total blocks and 28 digs as a team, limiting Westcliff's opportunities throughout the match.
OUAZ will now hit the road for a rematch against Westcliff on February 19, with first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
