Box Score 2 Surprise, Ariz. — OUAZ picked up two wins against Bushnell, using timely hitting and late-game heroics to secure the sweep.
Game 1 — OUAZ 11, Bushnell 10
Game one was a high-scoring affair that featured yet another Spirit comeback and a dramatic finish. Bushnell University jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning. OUAZ answered in the bottom half when Ava Seguin laced a triple to bring home Savannah Sutton. Bushnell added two more runs in the second inning, and the Spirit offense was held quiet for several innings. That changed in the fifth, as OUAZ erupted for eight runs to claw back into the game. The contest was tied heading into the bottom of the seventh, setting the stage for a walk-off. Elysa Moreno delivered in the clutch, ripping a single to score Nayeli Inzunza and seal the comeback victory.
Game 2 — OUAZ 8, Bushnell 2
Game two saw the Spirit in control from the opening inning. OUAZ struck early when Savannah Sutton launched a two-run home run in the first, bringing in Elysa Moreno. Alexis Jimenez followed with a home run of her own, forcing Bushnell into an early pitching change. Bushnell scored their only two runs of the game in the second inning, but the Spirit quickly responded. Elysa Moreno tripled in the second to score Kinzy Creighton, and Nayeli Inzunza added a two-run double in the third, driving in Alexis Rodriguez and Alexis Jimenez. OUAZ continued to add insurance runs in the fifth, as Alexis Jimenez lifted a sacrifice fly to score Elizabeth Luna, followed by Elysa Moreno reaching on an error that allowed Nayeli Inzunza to cross the plate.
The two victories capped off a strong showing for the OUAZ Spirit, highlighted by resilience in game one and dominance in game two.
