Surprise, Ariz. – OUAZ Women's Volleyball returned home Saturday afternoon and delivered a dominant performance, sweeping Embry-Riddle 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-23) inside Faith Arena. The victory improved the Spirit to 13-5 overall and 8-1 in GSAC play.
OUAZ controlled the match from start to finish, recording 48 kills on a .200 hitting percentage while limiting the Eagles to just 23 kills and a .038 attacking percentage. The Spirit also posted advantages in assists (43-22), digs (81-66), and total blocks (7-7), while forcing Embry-Riddle into 18 attacking errors.
McKenna Diederich and Keira Adrian led a balanced offensive attack as the Spirit won their eighth conference match of the season and continued to build momentum heading toward the final stretch of conference play.
OUAZ set the tone early by hitting .190 in the opening set while holding the Eagles to a negative attacking percentage. The Spirit collected 16 kills in the frame, highlighted by contributions from Diederich, Adrian, Gloria Moye, and Delaney Wilson, before claiming a comfortable 25-16 victory.
The second set featured one of the Spirit's strongest defensive performances of the afternoon. OUAZ recorded five team blocks and held Embry-Riddle to a -.018 hitting percentage. Moye and Wilson anchored the front-row defense, while Hannah Allman and Myra Memon kept rallies alive from the back row. The Spirit maintained control throughout the set and secured a 25-18 win to move within one frame of the sweep.
Embry-Riddle put together its best offensive effort in the third set, recording 11 kills and hitting .171. The Eagles pushed the Spirit late, but OUAZ answered with 18 kills of its own while hitting .310 in the final frame. Adrian, Diederich, Elisa Saunders, and Moye all delivered key points down the stretch as the Spirit completed the sweep with a 25-23 victory.
