San Dimas, Calif.- The OUAZ Spirit women's basketball team secured a gritty road victory on Thursday night, defeating Life Pacific 49–45 inside Mehl Court at Life Pacific University in San Dimas, Calif. The Spirit used timely scoring and a strong defensive effort to close out a tight contest and pick up an important win away from home.
OUAZ controlled much of the tempo in a low-scoring battle, leaning on defensive toughness and rebounding to create separation late. The Spirit held the Warriors under 50 points and dominated the glass with a 52–28 rebounding advantage, including 17 offensive boards that created crucial second-chance opportunities. OUAZ also registered 12 steals and 8 blocks defensively, disrupting Life Pacific's rhythm and limiting clean looks throughout the night.
Offensively, the Spirit were led by Tiana Sledge, who finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Charli Cook added 10 points, while Payton Sheridan came up big on the glass with 6 rebounds to go with 7 points, and two steals. Luka Wouters totaled 7 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal, and Jordan Dillon chipped in 5 points and 2 steals. OUAZ's balanced contributions and defensive commitment were decisive down the stretch as the Spirit closed out the four-point win.
OUAZ returns home for its next contest on January 15th, hosting The Master's at Faith Arena with tipoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m MST.
