Santa Clarita, Calif.- OUAZ Men's Volleyball season has come to an end as they fell to #1 The Master's in straight sets in the GSAC Semifinals. The Master's will continue their undefeated season as they advance to the GSAC Championship Game.
Set 1:
In Set 1, the Spirit and Mustangs were tied 6-6 early, but The Master's would then go on a 5-0 run to pull away, resulting in a 25-18 loss for the Spirit.
Set 2:
Set 2 was all The Master's, who used a 3-0 and a 4-0 run to take a large lead early. The Mustang's would maintain that lead for the rest of the Set as the Spirit fell 25-15.
Set 3:
The Spirit battled hard in Set 3, keeping it close for most of the match, until a late 4-0 run by the Mustangs allowed them to pull away from OUAZ to get the match clinching 25-20 win.
Spirit Leaders:
Jack Hubbard led the team with nine points, seven kills, and two service aces. Horatio Maumasi, Corey Johnson, Owen Draeger each had two blocking assists as they did everything they could to sow down the Mustangs' offensive attack. Johnathan Worden once again led the team with 11 assists and eight digs as he continued to set his teammates up well. Unfortunately, the strong effort by the Spirit weren't enough to get them past The Master's.Â
While the Spirit came up short of their ultimate goal, we would like to congratulate our OUAZ MVB team on putting together a great season under first year Head Coach Wellington Afusia.
All of us at OUAZ MVB and OUAZ Athletics would also like to thank those that supported our Spirit all season long!
