Spirit Fall Late in Tough Loss to Morningside

Surprise, Ariz.- OUAZ takes another loss, this time to Morningside by a score of 15-6. The Spirit have now lost 4 in a row going back to their last two games in Georgia as they look forward to their next series to right their wrongs.

The offense for the Spirit managed to piece some things together. Ethan Hatch recorded an RBI in the early going. Joey Winters recorded an RBI on a bases loaded walk. In the seventh inning, Joey Winters launched another homerun to build on his strong season. In the ninth inning, Greg Bozinovich had a pinch hit RBI single. The offense for OUAZ managed 10 hits and 4 walks in this one.

Hayden Schooler toed the rubber to start things off for OUAZ. The righty tossed 2.2 innings allowing 2 earned runs. Micah Del Rio came on in relief going 3.1 innings and allowing 2 earned runs to score. The bullpen got a bit shaky after that as Morningside broke the game open in the seventh and eighth inning. Ryan Bell came on to finish things off, tossing 2 quality innings and only allowing 1 earned run.

The Spirit will look to bounce back in their doubleheader against Jamestown on March 7th. The game will take place at Kino Sports Complex, first pitch will be at 12PM MST.
