OUAZ Splits Doubleheader to Split Four-Game Set Against #25 The Master's

Santa Clarita, Calif.- OUAZ splits the series outright with Masters University taking game one and dropping game two. The Spirit now sit at an overall record of 21-15 as they approach the home stretch of their season.

Game one ended by a score of 13-4 for a Spirit winner.

Logan Meyer got the offense going with a two run bomb in the first inning. The second inning saw Gabe DeJesus score on a wild pitch and then Nicholas Lustig cap off a small rally with a two run single. Gabe DeJesus brought in another run on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Joel Esparza roped an RBI double in the fourth inning to keep things rolling. Joey Winters tacked on another run with an RBI in the fifth, scoring Owen Prendergast. Nano Perez went long ball in the sixth inning, sending one way over the right field fence. Owen Prendergast stayed hot at the plate with an RBI single to follow Perez's homerun. Joey Winters and Joel Esparza both recorded RBIs in the seventh inning to cap off the Spirit's offensive effort.

The pitching for OUAZ was efficient in this one. Gavin Burns got the start and recorded a quality outing going 6 innings while allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 7. Liam Kiffer came out of the bullpen and went 2 innings allowing 1 earned run and Peyton Little finished the game off with 1 inning of 1 run ball.

Game two was a heartbreaker that ended in a 1-0 loss for OUAZ.

The Spirit only managed two hits the entire game and didn't record a walk on offense. Zach Hangas pitched the entire game for OUAZ and was stellar. Hangas went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run while striking out 6.

OUAZ's next matchup will be against Embry-Riddle University on April 4th. First pitch of game one (DH) will be at 4PM MST at Surprise Stadium.
