OUAZ Lose Back and Forth Conference Showdown to Embry Riddle

Prescott, Ariz- OUAZ basketball loses a close showdown with Embry-Riddle this Saturday. After a close first half, the Eagles were able to pull away in the second half for a final score of 87 to 73. The loss puts the Spirit at (8-15) overall and (1-8) in GSAC conference play.

Zeke Viuhkola led all Spirit scorers with 21 points. The junior converted a lot of his points inside the arc tonight and also hauled in 5 rebounds. Viukola got it done at both ends of the court as well recording a block and steal. Sharpshooting threat Hunter Richardson had a consistent 13 points draining two threes to go along with 4 boards. Reggie Orr, one of the GSAC's top guards continues to shine, scoring 11 points tonight on a 4 for 9 shooting night. The guard has a proven all around skillset to not only score the basket consistently, but to guard opposing team's star players.

The team shot incredibly well in the first half shooting 46% from the field and a solid 43% from three. The Spirit came out the gates hot, even leading by as many as 9 to start the game with just under 14:00 minutes. Although the Eagles were able to mount a comeback and get themselves back in the game, they only held a two point lead at the end of half. In the second half, the Spirit cooled down from the field shooting only 35% from the field and only were able to drain one three the entire half. The Spirit also lost the battle on the boards 40 to 29, which gave the Eagles a handful of opportunities. The Eagles lead in the second half still remained single digits until about the 10 minute mark, where they started to pull away after a string of contested jumpers.

The Spirit will look to comeback from this loss next Thursday, February 6th at 8:30pm. As they will travel down to Southern California to take on Hope International in Darling Pavilion. They will continue this SoCal trip on Saturday, February 8th to take on the Warriors of Life Pacific in San Dimas at 3:00pm.
